At 5:30 am Thursday morning, Chris shot up out of his sleeping back and his first words of the day were “Vegas, baby!” We packed up and, in record time, were on our way to Vegas by 6:40 in the morning. This time we had reservations for the evening at the Luxor. After a Denny’s $4 slam off Route 66 and a quick look-see at the Hoover Dam, we arrived in Vegas in the early afternoon.

It quickly became apparent that “Lost Wages” was making up for the $55 room by doubling the price of everything else. Fortunately, we got $10 off a buffet dinner and found ourselves tickets to a cheap show in the front row where we watched some hypnotist madness (no participation by us, thank our lucky stars).

Topping off the buffet with a choco-straw crepe
We were packed and ready to go by late morning and since we were unable to meet up with our friend Liz (boo) we had lunch about halfway home at the highway oasis, Mad Greek Restaurant, which seemed to be a popular destination for the LV-bound population.
We’ve spent the Memorial Day weekend in a surprisingly chilly SoCal, celebrating the big bro’s graduation from law school and catching up with friends and family. We head off for San Fran tomorrow morning via historic route 1. Will update when we’ve got something more to say!
