I know we promised a new blog post soon about Fayetteville, but we weren’t able to get an internet connection since we left until today so we’ll catch you up as much as we can.

Fayetteville, AR was a great town.  After a lovely lunch in small town AR, we arrived just in time for a game of Skip-Bo and dinner with Great Aunt Betsy and the new-found cousins, Malcolm and Joel and their twins Eric and Tom.

The next morning we set off on a walking tour of downtown Fayetteville.  We had breakfast at the Little Bread Company (see the GIANT pastries below) and headed to downtown to pick up a “Keep Fayetteville Funky” bumper sticker and check out the local farmer’s market.

We also spent time at their public library, which was quite impressive and took up most of the afternoon.  After visiting the local co-op, we helped cook a macrobiotic dinner for the family with greens from the farmer’s market.

After dinner we took a trip to Dickson Street to check out Opal Fly, a local jazz/soul/scat/?? singer recommended by Joel.  There’s nothing like seeing hippie chicks dancing to set the mood!  Until we realized we were completely exhausted and headed back to get a little shut-eye.

We made one more trip for giant pastries the next morning and then headed off to Dallas.  Many thanks to Malcolm and Joel for their hospitality and good conversation … and for having the coolest kitty in town!
