OK, so we were quite surprised that Fayetteville, AR is twice as far from Atlanta as it is from Dallas … quite a shocker! We drove through OK and stopped at a no-calendar diner called “Seasonal Snacks”. How could you not want some seasonal snacks??

We rolled into Dallas just in time for Friday rush hour and quickly washed up for a night on the town with our hosts, Susie and Peter. We made a trip to the Belmont Hotel for drinks with hipsters and a great view of downtown Dallas. Then we headed to dinner for some authentic Monterrey Mexican (Sus, correct me if that’s wrong). Again, Chris and I were ready to crash so we headed back to get more shut-eye (road trips seem to be very tiring).
The next morning, we woke up bright and early to head to the lake in Dallas (another new discovery) to help with lake clean-up with the Dallas Sierra Club. We climbed into kayaks and headed into the reeds to grab bits of debris and old-school beer cans.

Besides a few nasty-looking spider bites, we had a fantastic time on the water. We headed back to chez Sus and the girls went off for some pedis and girl talk. We made dinner that night and headed off to bed to get ready for the next great adventure … Galveston, TX!
